The Pumpkin King

The Pumpkin King is an underground Rap Metal artist from Pennsylvania, USA.
He released his first album "Harvest Moon" in 2005 and his popularity hasn't stopped growing ever since.
Zach - "Well first off, what is your name?"
The Pumpkin King - "My name is The Pumpkin King, But Lots Of people call me King or PK for short."
Zach - "Is horrorcore your favorite genre of music, or do you have other preferences?"
The Pumpkin King - "Metal music has always been my favorite genre of music, but the lack of reliable others kept me from forming an actual band. Horrorcore was a similar outlet, with similar aggression. I was one of the first to mix the 2."
Zach - "You wear a Pumpkin mask, how did that decision arise?"
The Pumpkin King - "The custom made mask I wear came to arise, because I used to paint my face, but the amount of detail I put into it took well over an hour to do, and during the time lots of face paint artists were popping up so I wanted something to set apart from them."
Zach - "How old we're you when you decided you wanted to make music?"
The Pumpkin King - "I was around 15 when I started writing poetry. I actually got published a couple times but I felt it wasn't a proper emotional outlet for anger, so I turned to music. I originally used jacked beats from Napster/Morpheus and never showed them to anyone, and it grew from there."
Zach - "You played at the same venue as Mushroomhead this year, who are a pretty big name in metal. How did that come about?"
The Pumpkin King - "Mushroomhead is a great band, I've talked with Jeff Nothing (Lead Singer) of the band several times. And with my music having a metal influence it was just natural that I would fit it. I was the only act on the show without a band but did better on merchandise sales then any other opener. So the crowd enjoyed me."
Zach - "I know that you’re a big fan of the WWE, who is your favorite wrestler of all time? And who is your favorite going today?"
The Pumpkin King - "My favorite WWE wrestler of all time has been Kane, since his original debut. The mask, the size, power, the darkness, the fire, he just had so many things that made him awesome to me. And obviously was a bit influential in me. As for nowadays, I really like Cesaro, he's an amazing talent but lacks the character gimmick to get a real push. I also really like Bray Wyatt and Kevin Owens but because they aren't built like power lifters and "pretty" it's unlikely they will ever hold the WWE title."
Zach - "Do you have any passions apart from music? And if so what are they & how did you get into them?"
The Pumpkin King - "I actually trained and went indie in pro wrestling in my late teens as "The Pumpkin King" I wore a custom leather mask, custom trunks, had shoulder length black hair and loved it. But only being 6ft tall I felt my chances of going as far as WWE were non existent. I paint, I'm a bit of a gamer, I workout a lot and take it pretty serious."
Zach - "Who do you think helped influence your sound to make it what it is today? (If anyone did at all.)"
The Pumpkin King - "I've always said that in the underground the artists Sutter Kain and Wolfpac were my biggest influences. And I was lucky enough to work with both of them on my album "The End Is Mine". Mushroomhead also had an influence to me and I hope to work with them in some way in the near future."
Zach - "If you had to pick your favorite, or a few of your favorite musicians right now who would they be?"
The Pumpkin King - "I actually listen to a wide variety of music, and depending on the mood I'm in that can change. But in rap, I really enjoy Kung Fu Vampire, I feel he is under appreciated for the talent he is. In metal I loved Killswitch Engage back when Howard was the lead singer, and I really Enjoyed Spineshank. But I like modern bands too like Falling in Reverse, music is great, style is horrible, it's like emo and 80s hair bands buttfucking."
Zach - "Was there ever a time when you just thought “fuck it” and considered giving up on the music? Or we’re you always perseverant?"
The Pumpkin King - "I've thought of giving up a few times. I've actually said that if I don't reach my next milestone after the release of my new album "Dead Crows" I'm probably gonna hang up the mask. But that's after a 10 year run and going further then I ever expected to."
Zach - "And finally, what do you have to say to the people who hate on the Juggalo community or just underground music in general?"
The Pumpkin King - "People who hate on other genres fan bases usually do it out of envy. They wish they had that type of unity, or that it set them out in the same way. Unless of course they just honestly hate the music, but more often then not, they never actually listened to it. I have so many haters who have never actually listened to my music, but I've said something to offend them and that was enough. But overall.. Be you, fuck them!"
Zach - "Well that’s it, thanks for taking time out and doing the interview."
