DYAMY

DYAMY is a chiptune producer who had 3 releases just in 2015 alone, as well as being part of the 'Chipmusic Heroes - Chromium' compilation album.
Not only is his music good, but he keeps himself busy making it.
Zach - "So, what is you name & what do you do?"
DYAMY - "My name is Daniel, and I'm an electrical technician, or I should say electrical technician student. Beside that, I'm a Chiptune artist."
Zach - "What was it that drew you specifically to chiptune music?"
DYAMY - "Maybe that it was so simple, yet so complex at the same time. I've been a video game addict since I have had my own memories! My first gaming console was a beat-up Amiga CD 32, and as I remember, my very first game was Lotus 3. The game had a selection of music of which you could choose before racing, and I never heard anything like that before. I so loved it that sometimes I just turned the console on and started the game, just to listen to the music while I was doing my homework."
As time passed, I developed a deep love for old consoles and old hardware. Of course, advanced sound cards and high tech things were already out, but how a single sound chip or a smaller board could make such amazing noises just amazed me.
Thus, about 2 years ago, I tried making music, looking up the chips used, methods and programs. You can read the text "I swear I didn't know that chiptune was a thing!" on all of my social media pages, because when I started, I didn't know that chiptune even existed. Seriously, I just didn't know that people are still following this amazing genre just to keep it up and living.
So I thought I should contribute to it, and show people that no matter how technology advances, music will always be music and we can't forget that there was a time where this was the norm."
Zach - "Are there any musicians that you would say influence your style of music?"
DYAMY - "I always loved electronic music. Before I was into chiptune, I listened a lot of ElectricJoyRide's songs. Guy kicks ass. My first big album "Arcade" was inspired by his work, "Arcade Asylum", I still listen to it a lot.
Right now, I'm trying to keep everything as independent as possible, I'm still working on finding the style and touch I can call my own."
Zach - "Which musicians are you listening to a lot right now?"
DYAMY - "As I said I'm trying to keep my music taste and work separately and independently.
But I can't deny my love for others like Televisior and GRiZ or a bit of other chip artist's works, like SquarePunch. I'm not really picky, I listen to everything I like."
Zach - "Is there a meaning behind the name Dyamy? And if so, what is it?"
DYAMY - "The story goes that when I started making music, I asked one of my friends called Matt to join me with it. I went ahead and already planned an artist name for us, an acronym. DYAMY actually stands for DannYAndMattY, but it's pronounced the same way you'd say Miami. Long story short, in the end he refused my offer, so I was left alone, but I liked the name and so I kept it."
Zach - "Apart from music, do you have any other passions/hobbies?"
DYAMY - "I love messing with electronics, building circuits, making things glow. I'm also a big car/motorcycle guy, I love everything about engines, tuning, racing, trailing, driving, riding, fixing and all that, you could call me a hardcore gearhead."
Zach - "Would you be able to name some of your favorite video games of all time?"
DYAMY - "Since I played a lot of games, I realized I can't pick one as my most favorite. I love all of them for different reasons. Games such as: Commander Keen series, Metro 2033, FEZ, Hotline Miami, Bioshock series, Fallout series, The Elder Scrolls series and the list goes on."
Zach - "Do you have a favorite video game soundtrack? And if so, what is it?"
DYAMY - "I have a few, the soundtrack to Hotline Miami, FEZ, Skyrim, but maybe my most favorite one is Minecraft. C418 did an amazing job and those songs still give me goosebumps."
Zach - "What can fans expect to see from you in the 2016 & the beyond?"
DYAMY - "I'm planning to release 2 or 3 albums this year, one of which is already established and can be expected around February - March. I'm also contributing to other albums, as well as collaborations and releasing singles. As for my future plans, I'd like to contribute to a game's soundtrack one day too and I'm taking every opportunity to do so."
Zach - "Thanks a lot for doing this."
DYAMY - "Thanks!"
